From Passion to Purpose: How Your Art Can Turn Into Something Bigger
As an artist and Park City photographer, I've always believed in the power of passion projects—something personal that sparks our creativity. Sometimes, those projects turn into something we never expected, and that’s exactly what happened with mine.
My passion project 'Project Shine' began as a simple idea to capture meaningful portrait photography sessions of women diagnosed with breast cancer. But three years into it, I never imagined it would turn into a book! What started as a few photos and stories became an inspirational coffee table book, celebrating the strength and beauty of women.
Why Passion Projects Matter
Passion projects are where we get to create freely, without any pressure. They help us stay true to ourselves while also helping us grow as artists.
Turning Your Passion into Something Bigger
If you’ve got a project that’s close to your heart, let it grow. It might start small, but who knows where it could take you—whether it’s a book, an exhibit, or something completely unexpected!
How to Nurture Your Passion Project
- Start small—break it into manageable pieces.
- Stay true to your vision—it’s your art, after all!
- Be patient—good things take time.
- Share your journey—let others in and get inspired by their stories, too.
Turning a passion project into something bigger can really change the way you see your art and yourself. Since the launch of 'Images of Hope', it’s been an exciting ride! I’ve had book signings, been featured in several Park City magazine articles, and even had my story shared on local TV stations. If you’re curious about my journey, check out the book—it’s a perfect example of how a passion project can turn into something much more than you thought it would.
And if you know someone touched by breast cancer, consider buying my book and give the gift of hope.
