People ask me where I photograph families in Park City. The answer is a little surprising.
It doesn't matter.
What I need is clean space around your subject. Simple light. And you. The background is going away. I'm going to replace it with something built around who your family actually is.
Here's what that looks like.
A Boy, His Dog Charlie, and Everything He Loves

His parents came to me at one of those ages that feels big. Not always easy. The kind of time when a kid needs to know that the people who love him see exactly who he is.
He plays every sport, but baseball is his thing, and the Atlanta Braves are his team. Charlie, his dog, goes everywhere with him.

A wooden rowboat on the ocean. His baseball bat and skis in the bow. Charlie sitting right beside him, both of them looking out at whatever comes next. Everything except the boy and the dog was built after the shoot, because the world needed to fit him, not the other way around.
A Skater, a Wrinkled Backdrop, and a Mom's Arm

Panel C is my favorite. That's her mom's arm reaching into the frame, holding her daughter's leg at just the right angle. That's what a session actually looks like.
She loves figure skating. Purple is her color. And she has a thing for Christmas trees and lights that her family finds completely delightful.

A frozen lake under a full moon. Pine trees glowing with Christmas lights all around her. Purple dress, white skates, and her pet fish skating right along with her.
What This Means for Your Family
Your kids are only this age once. As a Park City portrait photographer, what I do is make sure you remember exactly who they were right now, not a posed version of them, but the real thing.

Creatively yours,
